How do I get my key?
The key will be handed to you in our office. Please make an appointment with the manager in charge in good time.
Please note: WoVe will only hand you the key after the guarantee has been credited to our account. If necessary, please bring proof of the transfer with you. For students from abroad it is necessary to credit our account several days before moving in.
Which additional documents are required?
Personal liability insurance: we require proof that you are covered for any damage that you cause to the property.
Certificate of registration at the Department of Migration: You must register yourself at the Department of Migration in the location of the rented property to be eligible to move in. This also applies if you only stay in the room from Mondays to Fridays.
Proof of being a student: An apprenticeship contract, written proof of being enrolled on a course or at a university. Postgraduates and interns require an employment contract in addition.
May I sub-let my room?
We allow you to sub-let your room for a maximum of six months. The lodger must be eligible to apply for accommodation from us, must register with us and must pay the registration fee. You can find our application form for sub-letting here, which must be filled in by you, your lodger and your other flatmates.
How are shared accommodations organised?
Your own room as well as the kitchen, bathroom, toilet and the communal areas are usually cleaned by the occupants of the shared accommodation. Each individual must share the household duties and the waste disposal. A spring-cleaning session of the communal areas is to be carried out twice a year by the occupants of the apartment. WoVe organises and carries out a check on the cleanliness of the property at the end of each semester.
How do I terminate my rental agreement?
You must terminate your rental agreement. The relevant form can be found here. Your written resignation is only valid with an original signature. That is to say that the termination of the rental contract must be sent by post or brought personally to the WoVe office. A termination by email is NOT legally binding. Your period of notice can be found in your contract. This is normally three months for unfurnished accommodation and two months for furnished rooms. The notice must be handed in at the end of the month, with the exception of the end of December. If you leave at the completion of a fixed term contract it is not necessary to give notice. In all cases, the termination of the rental agreement has to be handed in at the latest on the day before the period of notice begins.
Should you wish to leave before your contract expires, you and your flatmates can recommend a successor. Please note that we only draw up rental contacts beginning on the first day of the month.
What do I have to note before leaving?
Please make an appointment with the manager responsible at least 10 days before leaving in order to hand over the room and the keys. Unless you have a cleaning package in your rental agreement, the room must be thoroughly cleaned before you hand over your keys.
The communal areas must be left in an obviously clean and good condition so that the next tenant can move into a clean shared apartment where he or she feels comfortable.
After the handing over of the accommodation has taken place, your file will be sent to our accounts department to reimburse your guarantee payment. Any claims will be directly deducted from your guarantee payment or conversely any credits will be paid to you.
If you wish, we would be happy to draw up proof of your rental agreement with us to help you find accommodation in future.
